Terri Hennessy (She/Her) is a founder of Protea Montessori Consultants. Terri is a dedicated Montessori Early Childhood Educator. She has been teaching in Montessori Early Childhood classrooms since 2013, when she received her AMS EC credential. She has taught in schools in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia. She is currently a teacher at Philly Montessori in Philadelphia. One of the aspects of teaching that she loves is introducing children to diversity of all kinds, especially when it is not visible in their communities. She passionately believes that it is important to teach acceptance and inclusion to people of all ages and that, by having conversations about gender diversity and different ways of expressing one’s gender in early childhood, we are not only helping children learn to be accepting of all people, but we are sometimes reflecting their own feelings back to them and giving them the language to talk about themselves.
